November 13 (Mon) 1944, Greenock, Scotland

This morning the ship was refloated and about 1500 hours left the dock and anchored off the Tail of the Bank in Berth Baker 5.

It was announced yesterday that “Lancasters” of RAF Bomber Command had sunk Germany’s finest Battleship, the “Tirpitz“, off northern Norway.

Over the weekend a party of officers & men from the ship visited “Wolverhampton” [Ed: in the West Midlands, about 280 miles south] at the invitation of the people of the Borough who had adopted the ship during a “Warships Week”. There was much merry-making, feasting, etc. and “a good time was had by all”. In fact, the midshipmen in the party were very loathe to return to shipboard life.

A party from Wolverhampton is expected on board tomorrow.
