Yesterday midday, shifted from alongside [HMS] Ceylon, to berth 20A, the next astern, where a large troopship had been secured when we entered. [HMS] Ceylon proceeded to dry dock. Had a quick look ashore in the evening & was very favourably impressed with the clean neat little town. Quite a change from Alexandria, in fact, & very quiet. Almost dead.
Today we continued embarking large quantities of stores and after a false alarm during the 1st Dog [watch], left harbour during the First [watch], bound for Fremantle, Australia, calling at the Cocos Isles on the way. [HMS] Chaser & Implacable also departed during the day and it is anticipated that we will overtake [HMS] Chaser tomorrow night. Six watch tropical routine is in force.
