Fremantle Harbour, 1940.

Arrived off our destination soon after 10 o’clock in brilliant sunshine. As our intended berth alongside occupied we dropped anchor outside & waited till tea time. During the forenoon, a shore battery carried out an HA [High Angle] shoot against a sleeve target, with results approaching ours during the early days at Scapa [Flow]. At 1600 weighed anchor and entered the port, securing alongside B shed, starboard side to. As usual on Sundays in this part of the world, the town of Fremantle was very quiet, but there was a little more life at Perth. Half an hour’s bus ride was sufficient to take us there and it proved a very pleasant city indeed. Embarked oil fuel during the night.
